Senior Mobile Developer
Your new workplace
Founded in 2014, Driversnote is a product-centric and profitable tech startup based in the heart of Copenhagen. They help more than one million users in over 50 different countries track their mileage conveniently and accurately in a fully automated manner using their mobile app. You’ll join a team of 20 doing design, product management, mobile and web development, marketing, support, and customer success in close collaboration.
Working at Driversnote
The company follows the development process known as Shape Up, where a few key people take the role of shapers and define projects that can be designed, implemented, and released within 6 weeks, known as cycles. For each 6-week cycle, they form new cross-functional teams with designers, developers, marketing, and customer support on them and let the teams focus exclusively on finishing their projects within the cycle. Each 6-week cycle is followed by a 2-week cool-down period, where they fix bugs, execute functional projects, evaluate how the team did and plan the next cycle.
Driversnote believes in letting people choose freely when they want to work from the office and when they want to work from home. They currently don’t have anyone working fully remote and expect to keep it that way. After completing your onboarding period, you’ll be able to choose what way of working fits you best.
The culture at Driversnote
Driversnote genuinely cares about its users, which is reflected in their reviews, responses to NPS surveys, and customer support ratings. They also care greatly about their employees, and in between each cycle, they have a Team Health Check together, where they rate and discuss how they work together and thrive in their respective roles. Driversnote works with a generous budget for each employee to learn and develop, and they do a lot of fun things together.
The tech stack at Driversnote
The mobile app is built in React Native with TypeScript and a few native components in Java. They also use Objective-C to handle things like iBeacon monitoring and GPS tracking. In addition, they use various other technologies like Redux, Sagas, GraphQL, Firebase, Realm, Storybook, Jest, and Detox.
The website is a fully-fledged SaaS, and it offers all the same things the mobile app does, excluding tracking. The web backend is a modular Ruby on Rails application with a PostgresSQL database and a GraphQL API. Everything is running on Google Cloud, and they deploy every day. The web frontend is built in modern React and Typescript.
