Senior Backend Developer – Proper

Proper makes property rental easy.

Proper is hiring a talented Senior Backend Developer to join the team.

Join a team of experienced developers and engineers at an early stage of the company’s history. This is a chance to build a platform that scales worldwide, from the ground up. 

Take part in architecting, developing and implementing the entire technology stack as a senior member of the team.

Monitor and improve performance of the Proper platform. 

Work closely with frontend and product to deliver the best service to our customers.

Proper is entirely built on a serverless infrastructure on AWS. Most of our micro-services are written in Java based on Clean Architecture and CQRS, using AWS Lambda, SQS, SNS, S3, and DynamoDB. An increasing amount of our micro-services will also be written in Python. Frontend is a server-side rendered React app based on Next.js, styled-components and a Storybook component library. We plan to implement GraphQL and WebSockets soon.

About Proper

Proper is a Danish startup focusing on making it easier to manage tenancies, tenants, and communications and keeping track of contracts and payments. Very experienced founding team and strong technical team – and very well-funded with investors such as Preseed, Bjarke Ingels (BIG), Henrik Werdelin, Morten Just and others. Proper is seeing a substantial growth by over 35% month over month.

Proper focuses on quality and safety as we handle thousands of leases, which thus generate rental income for many hundreds of millions of dollars each year. Proper has hired senior profiles from the start, which is a great foundation for building the organization.  

The role will be based in Copenhagen and is a core part of the engineering team, as we expand our service globally over the next few years. Our product department consists of individuals with between 12 and 25 years of experience.
