Senior Frontend Developer – Proper

Job Description

We are looking for a senior frontend developer who is experienced in structuring larger solutions, defining good code standards, automated tests, scalability and security.

We are looking for someone who can be part of the team between UI and backend. We have a skilled UI developer who ensures the product looks good and makes sense to the user. We are therefore looking for a profile that is more technical – perhaps based on computer science – and can build frontend architecture from scratch.

Proper is a Danish startup focusing on making it easier to manage tenancies, tenants, and communications and keeping track of contracts and payments. Very experienced founding team and strong technical team – and very well-funded with investors such as Preseed, Bjarke Ingels (BIG), Henrik Werdelin, Morten Just and others. Proper is seeing a substantial growth by over 35% month over month.

Proper focuses on quality and safety as we handle thousands of leases, which thus generate rental income for many hundreds of millions of dollars each year. Proper has hired senior profiles from the start, which is a great foundation for building the organization.

Join a team of experienced developers and engineers at an early stage of the company’s history. This is a chance to build a platform that scales worldwide, from the ground up.  Take part in developing and implementing the entire technology stack as a senior member of the team. Monitor and improve performance of the Proper platform.  Work closely with backend and product to deliver the best service to our customers.

About Proper

Proper is built entirely on a serverless infrastructure on AWS. Most of our micro-services are written in Java, based on Clean Architecture and CQRS, using AWS Lambda, SQS, SNS, S3, and DynamoDB. An increasing amount of our micro-services will also be written in Python.

Frontend is a server-side rendered React app based on Next.js, styled-components and a Storybook component library.

We have developed a layer between our micro-services and client which is developed using Express, however the plan is to migrate to GraphQL and WebSockets.

The role will be based in Copenhagen and is a core part of the engineering team, as we expand our service globally over the next few years. Our product department consists of individuals with between 12 and 25 years of experience.

  • Excellent English verbal and written skills.
  • Independent work mentality
  • Sense of urgency
  • Agnostic way of thinking
