Tech Lead – Tobi

Job Description

Tobi is your child’s brand new digital savings / investment product, as an alternative to the banks’ limited classic child savings in Denmark. In March 2021, Tobi launched their first version and has already taken it to the next level, by acquiring a lot of users, who are now experiencing the benefits of Tobi. The potential for international scaling is huge, which is usually unseen with a product, that has been based on a traditional financial Danish model.

The originality and need for their product were recently honored as the newcomer of the year, at Copenhagen Fintech’s annual award ceremony, the Nordic Fintech Awards.

In order to scale Tobi to the next step, we are now looking for a Tech Lead who can take responsibility and drive the future software development of Tobi’s digital solutions. For the right candidate, this is the opportunity in the long run to be able to step into a CTO role.

What are you going to do?

As Tobis Tech Lead you will be hands on responsible for the engineering team at Tobi, as well as the technical consumer part of the product, existing tech stack, solutions, integrations to e.g. trading platform and marketing automation platform.

Furthermore we expect you to:

  • Take leadership of the end to end solutions.
    API Design and integrations.
  • Set up a product development process in collaboration with the Head of Product including possible remote colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Head of Product and CEO on developing first features (backend + integration w. third parties (trading platform and MitID) and possibly frontend).
  • Designing, building and scaling infrastructure as well as architecture.
  • Review existing solutions (code, architecture, devops) and plan the next.
  • Plan for team expansion (on premise or remote).
    Hiring responsibility for additional engineers/designers to the tech team.
  • Mentoring and leading the tech team as well as being a rockstar coder.

Who are you?

For us, it is important that you are a senior profile who has had technical responsibility and who naturally thinks that influence is interesting. Ideally you have experience from e.g. a startup or a place, where you have gained an understanding of how digital products with strong user experiences are delivered.

As a person, you have maintained a curious approach to software development with a good overview of technical backend- and frontend architecture, as well as a structured and pragmatic approach to technology choices.

As we work with sensitive personal and financial information, it is important that you are aware of how we work with – and process data. Also, it is an advantage if you have experience with software development in financial products and services, but it is not a requirement.

You appreciate taking ownership, creating structure and ensuring that deadlines are met. We will support you as much as we can, but it is very important that you have motivation to work independently.

About Tobi

Tobi is the future of savings for children, and was founded by Jacob Munk Stander and Nicolai Galal in 2020. With a founding team, who are parents themselves, they wanted to create an easier alternative for parents to get started with a child savings account that can actually provide a reasonable return.

As a product Tobi delivers an invested child savings account – a bit like a pension account for adults. There are no restrictions on deposits, the whole family can help save up, and they automatically invest your child’s savings based on your chosen investment profile. If your child has no other income, they can even provide a tax-free return on investment. That way, your child’s savings will have the best opportunities to grow over time. 

With funding from Founders(Pleo, Son of a Tailor, Good Monday etc) and Vækstfonden, they have the financial stability and some investors to support them, that has great knowhow about creating the best scene for scaling and growth.
